The Rolling Stones Play Unannounced Show In Las Vegas For Truckers
Those attending the 2016 Freightliner customer appreciation dinner last night at the Bellagio in Las Vegas were in for quite a treat as they witnessed a 90-minute set from The Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger & Co. played 14 songs for 1,200 truckers inside a conference room converted to a concert venue according to TT News.
The Rolling Stones are gearing up to perform at the first weekend of the inaugural Desert Trip festival in Indio, California on Friday. Jagger “praised the work that truckers perform and thanked Martin Daum, president of Daimler Trucks North America, for inviting them to play” as per TT News. Setlist wise, the evening’s biggest surprise was the return of Steel Wheels track “Mixed Emotions” for the first time since August 25, 1990. The band stuck to hits beyond “Mixed Emotions” with the exception of “Out Of Control” from 1998’s Bridges To Babylon, loading the set with such songs as “Start Me Up,” “Tumbling Dice,” “Honky Tonk Women” and “Miss You.”
For the encore, The Stones performed “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” There was no sign of any of the blues songs The Rolling Stones recorded for a blues album expected in December. We’ll see if that changes when the band performs at Desert Trip on Friday.
