Why Vegas Might Be Adele’s Best Bet: Mat Franco Shares His Take on the Magic of Sin City

Why Vegas Might Be Adele’s Best Bet: Mat Franco Shares His Take on the Magic of Sin City

What music-loving American wouldn’t love to have Adele move over to this side of the pond? Rumor has it that after her global tour ends this year, Adele plans to refrain from touring for 10 years in order to be with her son. Tabloids have mentioned the possibility of a Las Vegas residency—which would mean having a family-centered home base with a designated performance space just minutes away. Not a bad solution for someone who was born to sing and wants be able to be available for all of those child-rearing moments and milestones.

So, I decided to do some unsolicited research for Adele in order find out what life is like when you take on a Vegas residency and become a familiar and favorite face on the Strip. I recently caught up with magician and America’s Got Talent winner Mat Franco, who began a residency at The Linq Hotel and Casino in 2015. FYI Adele: It looks like Franco is a big Vegas and Vegas residency fan. Here are his answers to my pop quiz….

Other than the travel factor, is the experience of performing and creating in Vegas different than performing on the road?

A residency stage becomes like the performer’s home, and the audience is invited to come over and play. Vegas is the best place to experience big shows in an intimate way.

What was one of the best surprises about doing a Vegas residency?

I was caught off guard by how comforting it is to perform in the same venue nightly. Before I started, I was concerned that I might get bored. Instead, that consistency brings much needed balance to my life.
