FORMULA E CONFIRMS VIRTUAL RACE IN LAS VEGAS

Las Vegas will host an eRace at the beginning of next year

SCOTT DOUGLAS — SEPTEMBER 1, 2016

Formula E has confirmed that a virtual race will be held in Las Vegas at the beginning of next year.

All twenty Formula E drivers will be involved in the eRace, which will be held at The Venetian Hotel to coincide with the Sports Business Innovation Summit between the 5th and 7th of January.

There will also be an opportunity for ten fans to join the race through a ‘Road to Vegas Challenge’, which will involve a series of online qualifying races with the top drivers being invited to fly out to Vegas to drive against the Formula E field.

Each racer will be competing for the chance to win a share of a $1 million prize fund.

Formula E will be using Playseat gaming rigs running rFactor 2 software for the race, with Cloud Sport providing technical support.

CEO of Formula E, Alejandro Agag, said that the initiative once again showed the commitment of the series to involving fans as much as possible.

“Formula E takes one more giant step in engaging with our fans. Gamers from all over the world will be able to participate in the ‘Road to Vegas Challenge’ and earn themselves the opportunity to race against the Formula E drivers in a unique eRace,” he said.
