Here is a list of 13 things to do this week around Las Vegas for the week of Oct. 30 through Nov. 5:
1. Downtown Container Park is hosting a Nevada Day celebration on Oct. 30. There are lots of fun family activities planned. Festivities continue with a Halloween festival on Oct. 31 and a Dia de los Muertos celebration on Nov. 1.
2. Grammy Award-winning songwriter John Prine and country music legend Kris Kirstofferson team up for a performance Oct. 30 in The Pearl at The Palms.
3. Broadway in The Hood will present “Violet,” an epic, uplifting story that captures the survival of the human spirit in the early days of the Civil Rights Movement, opens Oct. 30 in the Troesh Studio Theater at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
4. Rob Zombie’s new concert album features 19 live performances. He performs Oct. 30 inside The Joint at the Hard Rock with Danzigand special guest Witch Mountain.
5. Brody Dolyniuk, a self-taught musician and former front man for the Las Vegas band Yellow Brick Road, will perform Elton John’s greatest hits on Oct. 30 in Club Madrid at Sunset Station.
6. He isn’t just a comedian and actor, he is also a musician. Jim Belushi & The Sacred Hearts Band performs Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 in The Orleans Showroom.
7. Ghost, a Swedish heavy metal band who wears hooded robes during performances to keep their identities secret, perform with Purson on Oct. 31 in the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay.
8. Bella Donna will present a tribute to Steve Nicks & Fleetwood Mack in The Club at the Cannery on Oct. 30.
9. You never know what sound will come out of The Neighbourhood. The band is known for mixing genres, including hip-hop, indie rock, electronic and R&B. They perform Oct. 30 at The Cosmopolitan.
10. Head to Sam Boyd Stadium for some football action when the University of Nevada, Las Vegas plays Boise State on Oct. 31. Kick off is at 12:30 p.m. Don’t forget to come down early for some tailgating fun.
11. The Beerd Company and Atomic Liquors will host a No-Shave November kick-off party at noon Nov. 1. There will be barbecue, drink specials, and a free gift pack for those who register to participate. Portion of proceeds will benefit American Cancer Society.
