BEST OF LAS VEGAS: 5 GREAT THAI RESTAURANTS

Plenty of you will be heading to Vegas for the World Series of Poker this summer, and chances are good you’ll be staying awhile.

That’s why those of us here at Poker News Lifestyle are going to start featuring a “best of Las Vegas” series where we give you the best places to eat, play and party.

We’ll feature certain kinds of foods and group them together for ease of use. Today, we take a look at 5 of the best Thai restaurants in Las Vegas, for those of you who want to get away from the Rio and get some delicious curry or spicy-hot Pad Thai.

Side note: We haven’t been to every Thai place in Las Vegas. There are some, like Chada, that we still plan on visiting. So look for future versions of this list over time.

Lotus of Siam: The undisputed king of Las Vegas Thai food. In 2000, Gourmet magazine called Lotus of Siam “the best thai restaurant in North America,” and they’re probably right. Lotus used to feature an all you can eat buffet, and it was glorious. But though Lotus did away with the buffet feature in 2014, it’s still worth the trip to one of the sketchiest strip malls in Las Vegas for the standard menu items. You’ll likely wait in line unless you go in the middle of the afternoon, but trust us when we say this is one pilgrimage you need to make.

Krung Thai: Located fairly close to the Rio (and next to the Palms), Krung Thai is notable for great food and one additional thing: karaoke. If you aren’t feeling the urge to get on stage and sing at the top of your lungs, the owner will do it for you. And trust us when we say: this dude can sing, and he knows every song in the history of music. It’s the perfect accompaniment to your curry or pad thai.

Archi’s: With two locations (including one within minutes from the Rio), Archi’s is a great option for Thai food. The Rainbow location (close to the Rio) features a drive-thru. They are Zagat rated and have won numerous Best of Las Vegas awards for Thai food. Our personal favorite is the Basil Fried Rice with seafood, spiced at about a 7 or 8 on the heat scale. It is absolutely perfect in every way. Archis also features a selection of craft beer, both local and national.

Thai Style Noodle House: All four Thai Style Noodle House locations are what we’d call “hole in the wall” joints. But as you know, those are often the best places for delicious food. This is no different. The Chinatown location is a 3 minute drive from the Rio, and you need to visit for their tom yum noodle soup, if nothing else. Oh, and the Roasted Duck Curry might just change your life. This place also delivers, and you might be able to convince them to deliver to the Rio.

Basil n’ Lime: Located on Fort Apache Drive, this one is a bit of a hike from the strip. It’s one of Vegas’ newest Thai joints, but it’s a rising contender for the best. The Thai Beef Jerky appetizer should always kick off your meal here, and the Pad Thai is a plate of perfection.
